Competition Time

I thought I'd be brave and offer a competition on my blog. I've seen it done on other blogs but I'm not sure if there is a blog comp etiquette - feel free to correct me if I get it wrong.

The prize is novelty charm squares; 20 in all and measuring 3.5 inches/9 cm. You can see the squares on the right of screen (waves towards picture). To win this little prize you need to leave a comment on this blog post. I even have a question for you to answer:

"What's your favourite colour scheme for a quilt/craft project?"
You have until midnight on Sunday 11th October to leave your comment, then the winner will be chosen at random.
Looking forward to your comments. Good luck!

I've just bought fabric for a handbag I'm making in emerald, cream and gold. Hmm, sounds suspiciously like the colour scheme for some cushions I know! Generally I like sewing anything that isn't forest green, yellow and tan.

Competition tip - it's smart to say "For a second entry in the competition post about this giveaway in your own blog."

Thanks for the tip, it's a good idea.

Well I must say I don't have a favourite colour scheme for my quilts or projects as I am a real scrap quilter. However I have found that I prefer maroon or blue fabrics for borders.. probably because I have a lot of those and so don't need to buy more.
Thank you for your generous giveaway.

Hi Sharon, I don't have a favourite colour scheme - as long as it is a fabric, I will use it..

Did you finish the blue I spy? Can't wait to see what you did for borders...

I love bright solid spring colours of yellow, orange and lime green. Thanks for the giveaway.

Jennie sent me over!

I find it easier to tell you what I wouldn't put in a quilt! I'd say PINK but my last two quilt tops have been very pink so that's probably not really true (but they're not for me to keep - they are for little girls).

My next quilt with be green and blue and chocolate brown so I'm looking forward to that one!

er ... whatever colour(s) the bit(s) of fabric that waved at me from my stash (or the op shop ;-) and told me what it/they wanted to be ...
I tend to go for greens ... and blues ... or anything else that looks interesting ... I like all sorts of colours ... inclding the "not colours" like blacks and calico/eccru type colours...

I seem to always lean towards jewel tones with black .......... however I love other colour combinations but haven't tried many as yet.

Anyway I love reading blogs.

Now off to sort fabric for a project I have in mind..a quilt promised as a 50th Birthday present and the one day recipient is now 53!!

"I have just discovered your blog through scquilters - I love it.
My favourite colours would have to be rosy pink/burgundies and green. Can you tell I love roses?
I mostly make little quilts for Blankets of Love and charity quilts which are usually scrappy, depends on what fabrics we have in stock.
In the event I would win your giveaway I think these I-Spy pieces would make up into a lovely quilt for the Royal Flying Doctor Service quilts. We give them quilts to give to child patients who are flown out to major hospitals from the north queensland area."

Cinzia, most of my quilts are scrap quilts. Some are planned scraps, and some are just random.

Sue, the borders are nearly finished, I'll post a photo when it's complete.

Sally K and Anne A, I've added your email comments, sorry that Blogger wouldn't let you post.

Hi Sharon, I think I'm an 'earthy' colour person. when I look at quilts I've made they all seem to go down that deep green, drk pinks and reds and muddy blues road.

Hi Sharon,
I always seem to be attracted to black & batiks or brights (esp Kaffe...)
I do collect a lot of blues & yellows - maybe one day I'll actually make something in that colour scheme.
I have just started blogging - I find it a weird experience sending my thoughts out into the ether.
Cheerio,
Carolyn

At the moment I seem to be using lots of balck & whites. My next project will be B & W with a touch of aqua.

My favourite colour is purple, although I have never finished a quilt in that colour scheme. The quilts and colours I use tend to change over time.
